If you are new to microdosing and want to try ayahuasca microdosing but need some tips to make it work for you, the next sections will be very helpful for you.

What Is Ayahuasca Microdosing

Microdosing is taking small doses of psychedelics such as LSD and psilocybin mushrooms, throughout a couple of days to experience the benefits of Ayahuasca, according to Insider(1)https://www.insider.com/what-is-microdosing-2019-1.

A microdose is considered to be between 0.15 and 0.5 grams depending on the type of drug you take, according to Matthew Korfhage(2)https://www.wweek.com/culture/2017/04/18/i-tried-microdosing-with-four-different-psychedelic-drugs-heres-what-happened/. Meanwhile, Simone Kitchens(3)https://www.thecut.com/2018/05/microdosing-guide-and-explainer.html of The Cut said microdose is between 0.20 micrograms to 0.10 of a recreational dose. However, if someone is seeing things, he or she has taken too much. Usually, people microdose with mushrooms, DMT (N, N-Dimethyltryptamine), LSD ( (lysergic acid diethylamide), psilocybin (magic mushrooms), mescaline, and ayahuasca.

Microdosing is not designed to make you high but only “trip” and should only be one-twentieth to one-tenth of the regular dose for LSD and psilocybin. That would be 5 to 10 micrograms of LSD or 0.1 to 0.4 grams of psilocybin mushrooms.
The dosage differs depending on the personal tolerances. The key is, the dosage should make one experience Ayahuasca with an increased state of perception rather than a hallucinating state.

The Aya brew or tea is made from the Banisteriopsis caapi vine and the Psychotria Viridis leaf. Ayahuasca microdosing is taking ayahuasca in small doses. You can do it by putting a few drops of ayahuasca liquid underneath your tongue and let it absorb. Anyone familiar with CBD oil is probably familiar with ingestion.

While ayahuasca microdosing is possible like microdosing LSD, microdosing psilocybin mushrooms, and even microdosing DMT, determining the specific dosage is a matter of experimentation.

Also, microdosing offers the lesser effects as the ayahuasca retreats led by shamans, and it’ll not cause a breakthrough. Instead of taking part in a 4-6 hour ayahuasca ceremony, microdosing causes you to be more aware and alert.

Why Do People Use Microdoses?

People microdose because of the positive effects that it delivers. The reported benefits include better perceptions, improved creativity levels, decreased anxiety and depression, lower stress levels, higher awareness, greater presence, better insights, more compassion, higher peace, and more.

Korfhage said he wanted to try it after reports surfaced that Silicon Valley types were using microdoses of psychedelic drugs for creativity or to make their lives meaningful. Others use microdose to alleviate anxiety and depression.

Ayahuasca microdosing, the best way to ingest 100% organic ayahuasca is through microdosing. It offers a sustainable effect that won’t overwhelm you. The effects of ayahuasca microdosing are life changing thanks to its natural healing properties.

How To Microdose Ayahuasca

You will often hear microdosing LSD, psilocybin and mushrooms because they are common. Microdosing ayahuasca is as possible and effective. However, it’s not easy and the specifics of dosage and content may need experimentation.

I know you are eager to start microdosing ayahuasca and in this section, you will get exactly that.

First, prepare the ingredients which include MAOI extract, one of the three harmala alkaloids found in Banisteriopsis caapi or Syrian Rue: harmaline, harmine, or tetrahydroharmine. The second part is extracted freebase DMT. The MAOI is ingested in a plastic capsule and the DMT is taken 20 minutes later after soaking in lemon juice for conversion to DMT citrate.

The process may intake vomiting following the intake. Some suggested that DMT can also be ingested in a pill as long as the harmala contents are properly dosed.

Here’s an overview with the recommended measurements.

MAOI
• 50-60g Banisteriopsis caapi leaves, shredded;
• (or) 4-5g Syrian Rue seeds, crushed/ground;
• (or) 100-200mg of extracted harmalas.
DMT
• 25g Psychotria viridis leaves, dried and ground;
• (or) 9g Mimosa hostilis/tenuiflora root bark;
• (or) 20g Acacia acuminata/confusa/phlebophylla leaves/root bark;
• (or) 75mg N,N-DMT.

After creating the brew, determine the ideal microdose for yourself. The ideal microdose depends per individual, but it’s best recommended that you drink between a tenth and twentieth of the total volume of the brew.

If you don’t notice any changes after several hours, you can slightly increase the dose until you experience the expected results. Once you have found the threshold dose, roll it back to just under this threshold for a correct microdose.

This microdosing course(4)https://thethirdwave.co/microdosing-course/ which follows James Fadiman’s system recommends to take an ayahuasca microdose once every three days. Take a microdose on day 1. Skip day 2 and day 3, and take another ayahuasca microdose on day 4. You have to continue the said process for several weeks to notice positive changes.

Is Microdosing Ayahuasca Effective

There are only a few studies covering microdosing in humans, so the method remains inconclusive but it’s promising.

A self-reported study(5)https://www.researchgate.net/publication/330094963_Microdosing_psychedelics_personality_mental_health_and_creativity_differences_in_microdosers from February 2019 found people who microdose LSD or psilocybin to be more open-minded, more creative and with better moods. Another study(6)https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6364961/ published in February 2019 found people who microdose with psychedelics regularly to have better mental health and better ability to focus.

A different study from researchers at Imperial College London(7)https://elifesciences.org/articles/62878 published in March 2020 found out that microdosing’s reported benefits could be attributed to a placebo effect.

However, based on various personal accounts microdosing really works.

Ayelet Waldman, a novelist, essayist, screenwriter and activist shared her experience with microdosing in her book “A Really Good Day: How Microdosing Made a Mega Difference in My Mood, My Marriage, and My Life.”(8)https://www.amazon.com/Really-Good-Day-Microdosing-Difference/dp/1101973722/ In the book, she detailed how she treated her unstable moods with minuscule doses of LSD. She did it to improve herself because she was concerned about her husband and kids.

“I feel happy,” she wrote in her book recounting the first time she took LSD in minuscule doses. “Not giddy or out control, just at ease with myself and the world. When I think about my husband and my children, I feel a gentle sense of love and security. I am not anxious for them or annoyed with them. When I think of my work, I feel optimistic, brimming with ideas, yet not spilling over.”

Chloe, 40, a businesswoman from Yorkshire also uses microdosing to address her mental health problems. She was suffering from “quite a serious breakdown” and it worked on her.

“The first day I microdosed was the best day I’d had in five years. For so long, I’d felt like I’d been sedated. It’s so miserable when you know you used to be excitable and enthusiastic. But that day, it felt like a lightbulb had been turned on in my mind. I felt giddy, just really glad to be alive. I’d not had those feelings for so, so long,” she shared with The Guardian(9)https://www.theguardian.com/science/2019/may/03/psychedelic-drugs-women-taking-tiny-doses-hattie-garlick.

Korfhage also shared his experience with DMT a common substance present in ayahuasca that is ingested in ceremonies led by shamans aimed for a deeper spiritual journey or to find themselves.

“Honestly, it’s my favorite drug of them all—although I couldn’t imagine using it for work that isn’t customer service,” he wrote. “Honestly, it’s my favorite drug of them all—although I couldn’t imagine using it for work that isn’t customer service.”

Overall, he found the experience well. He rated its pleasantness and his productivity after using it 8.

Benefits & Risks

Ayahuasca has been a significant part of the spiritual and religious ceremonies of the Amazonian tribes where it has long been viewed as an agent for healing and change. Many fly to the Amazon to attend an ayahuasca ceremony due to its powerful healing properties.

Taking the brew is known for improving one’s physical and mental health. Ayahuasca can help with traumas and addiction. Thanks to these health properties, it has earned global popularity. However, you’ve got to look out for the potential side effects that come along with the promising benefits it offers.

Ayahuasca microdosing can also increase sensitivity and openness. Some felt that it dissolved their boundaries and defenses. However, it is not for optimal work as it can make physical and mental tasks slightly more strenuous. It can also make you feel passive with some saying it made them more difficult to answer emails, writer queries, or research.

Benefits

Many people who have taken ayahuasca have given positive responses about it. According to the ayahuasca retreat participants, it leads to positive, long-term, and life-altering changes. Risks and Side Effects

Aside from the benefits it offers, there are a number of disadvantages that you should look after or be aware of.

For instance, ayahuasca may interact with other drugs, substances or medications including antidepressants, psychiatric medications, cough medicines, appetite suppressants and more. Depending on the results, it could worsen symptoms of psychiatric disorders including schizophrenia. So, those with mental disorders could be advised to avoid ayahuasca.
Meanwhile, David Nutt, former chief drug adviser to the government and author of “Drugs: Without The Hot Air” said there was only one genuine concern about microdosing.

“There’s only one genuine concern about microdosing,” Nutt said. “There’s a theoretical possibility that a relatively low dose of LSD, taken every day, could narrow the heart valves.”

Beyond that, he said there was no evidence that full doses of LSD are dangerous to health. He also warned the people to not underestimate Ayahuasca’s illegality.

“Possession carries a maximum penalty of seven years in prison,” he said.

Here are some of the potential risks when taking the brew.

• Impaired focus
• Impaired mood
• Impaired energy
• Increased anxiety
• Social interference
• Increased symptoms
